Find newsletters you never read and unsubscribe from the ones you choose

Handoff 3 Acts, but reversible Reviewed 14 Oct 2026 Set-up: 20 minutes

Who it's for
Owners whose inbox is mostly marketing email
Outcome
Fewer unwanted newsletters, without losing the ones you rely on.
Why Handoff 3
Unsubscribing changes things outside your inbox, but you can usually sign up again.

Steps

  1. Ask the agent to list senders of bulk email from the last 60 days, with how many you received and whether you opened any (if it can tell).
  2. Mark which senders to keep. Keep anything from suppliers, banks, tax or software you pay for.
  3. Give it back an approved list of senders to unsubscribe from.
  4. Let it use the unsubscribe links for those senders only, one by one, reporting each.
  5. Never let it 'mark as spam' or delete emails as part of this job.

Copy-paste prompt

Works with any agent. Replace the [square brackets] with your details.

Step 1 (read only): list every sender of newsletters or marketing email in my inbox from the last 60 days. For each: sender name, address, number of emails, and whether I opened any if you can tell. Do not unsubscribe or delete anything yet.

Step 2 (only after I reply with an approved list): unsubscribe from the senders on my approved list only, using each email's own unsubscribe link. Report each one as done or failed. Do not mark anything as spam, do not delete emails, and do not unsubscribe from any sender not on my list.

Notes for each agent

Only features we found in each provider's official documentation on 14 Oct 2026 are stated as product facts, with the source linked. Product features change; check before relying on them.

Claude Suggested

Claude (Cowork) can open sites, click and fill forms. Use Manual mode: Anthropic advises staying close or using 'Manually approve' for work involving money, messages sent as you, or important files.

ChatGPT Suggested

ChatGPT agent mode has been retired; OpenAI points to ChatGPT Work. Its cloud browser is designed to ask for confirmation before hard-to-reverse actions or financial, legal or account commitments, and pauses for you to sign in.

Open agents & automations Suggested

OpenClaw's docs say host commands run without prompts by default on gateway/node hosts; switch to the 'cautious' preset (allowlist, ask on anything else) first. In n8n, put the action tool behind a human review step.

Common failure, and how to catch it

What goes wrong
An unsubscribe link leads to a login or a page asking for more personal details.
How to catch it
Tell it to stop and report any unsubscribe page that asks for a login, payment or extra details.

Time and cost

Time to set up
20 minutes
Cost
Uses the AI plan you already pay for. Agent features (browsing, connectors, scheduling) may need a paid tier; check your plan before relying on them.
