Who is responsible
The data controller is Cogniosynthesis Portal Ltd (UK company number 16225073). Contact: info@cogniosynthesisportal.uk.
What we collect
- Cookies and tracking: none. No analytics, advertising pixels, social widgets or third-party scripts are loaded.
- Newsletter: if you subscribe, we store your email address (and the date and how you signed up) with our email provider, Buttondown, to send you the newsletter. Our lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)); you confirm by email first and can unsubscribe from any email or by contacting us, and we then delete your address. Buttondown may record whether emails are opened or links clicked; see Buttondown's privacy policy.
- Server logs: like almost every website, our web server records basic request details (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type and the referring page) to keep the site secure and working. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We aim to keep these logs for no longer than 30 days.
- Email: if you email us, we use your address and message only to reply, and keep them only as long as needed for that.
- Starter Pack orders: if you buy the Starter Pack, you pay on a secure checkout page run by Stripe. Stripe processes your card or other payment details; we never see or store your full card number. We receive your name, email address, and order and payment details (amount, date, the last digits and type of your card, and your billing country) so we can provide the download, handle refunds and answer questions about your order. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), and keeping accounting records is a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)). We keep order records for as long as UK tax and accounting rules require, normally six years. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Stripe
Stripe Payments UK, Ltd. processes payments for us and acts as a data controller for some of the information it collects, for example to prevent fraud and meet its legal obligations. The Stripe checkout page is on Stripe's own website and may use cookies; it is covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. Our hosting provider processes server logs on our behalf, Buttondown stores newsletter subscribers on our behalf, and Stripe processes payments as described above.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email us to do so. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we add analytics or anything else that collects data, we will update this notice first and ask for consent where the law requires it.
