Update your CRM or deal spreadsheet with notes from recent emails
- Who it's for
- Owners who keep deals in a spreadsheet or simple CRM
- Outcome
- Deal records that reflect the latest emails, without retyping.
- Why Handoff 3
- It edits records. Edits can be undone if you keep version history, but wrong data spreads fast.
Steps
- Turn on version history (most spreadsheet tools have it) or make a copy first.
- Ask the agent to read the last week's deal emails and propose updates as a list.
- Approve, edit or reject each proposed change.
- Let it apply only the approved changes.
- Spot-check three records afterwards.
Copy-paste prompt
Works with any agent. Replace the [square brackets] with your details.
Read my emails from the last 7 days with these customers: [list or label].
For each, propose updates to my deal tracker [sheet name / CRM] as a table: record, field, current value, proposed new value, and the email it came from.
Do not change anything yet. After I reply with the approved rows, apply only those changes and report what you changed. Never delete records or columns.Notes for each agent

Claude Suggested
Claude can only read and write files in folders you have connected, and Cowork asks for your explicit permission before permanently deleting files. In Claude Code, Manual mode asks before file edits.

At work, Researcher can draw on files you already have access to and cites its sources; it follows your existing Microsoft 365 permissions.

Open agents & automations Suggested
OpenClaw's exec approvals can limit which commands run and ask about anything else ('allowlist' or 'ask' modes). Start there rather than 'full'.

Common failure, and how to catch it
- What goes wrong
- It overwrites a field with the wrong customer's details.
- How to catch it
- The change table with old and new values, plus version history to roll back.
Time and cost
- Time to set up
- 25 minutes
- Cost
- Uses the AI plan you already pay for. Agent features (browsing, connectors, scheduling) may need a paid tier; check your plan before relying on them.
